About us

There is no actual word for "driftwood" in Turkish. The Alanya people have adopted the greek word " ΥΑΛΟΣ -yalos" (coastline ) to mean driftwood.
When we pick up "the beached", as we call them, the artistic work has already been done. Our job is only to put together and to bring out the beauty perfectly created by nature.
We do not change the objects in any way -like carving or cutting- what you see is what we found on the beaches of Alanya.

Über Uns

Die türkische Sprache sieht kein Wort für “ Treibholz - Schwemmholz ” vor; wohl deshalb haben sich die Einheimischen von Alanya eines Begriffes aus dem Griechischen bedient, um den Holzteilen, die die Flüsse aus dem Taurus-Gebirge ins Meer spülen, einen Namen zu geben. “Yallos” bzw." Yalloz" sagt der Alanyaner, wenn er vermeindlich wertlose Holzteile am Strand meint und der Grieche verbindet mit “ΥΑΛΟΣ-Yalos”- Küste.

Wenn die “Gestrandeten” , wie wir sie nennen, von uns aufgelesen werden, ist die wesentliche künstlerische Arbeit eigentlich schon vollbracht. Uns bleibt dann noch der handwerkliche Teil und die Aufgabe, das von der Natur bereits Geschaffene zu bewahren und hervorzuheben. Alle Teile werden von uns in ihrem Wesen nicht nachbearbeitet, sondern so erhalten, wie wir sie am Strand von Alanya gefunden haben.

Hakkımızda

YALOS: Alanya’da nehirlerin sürükleyerek kıyıya getirdiği odun parçalarına yallos / yalloz adı verilir. Yunanca da sahil anlamına gelen " ΥΑΛΟΣ - YALOS" kelimesinden geldiğini tahmin ediyoruz. Deniz kıyısından topladığımız bu "ÇERÇÖPLER" rüzgâr, deniz, kum vs. gibi rakipsiz ustaların elinden çıkmış eserlerdir. Bize düşen bu doğa harikalarını, herhangi bir müdahalede bulunmadan, yani kesmeden, oymadan kısaca biçimlendirmeden bir araya getirmek ve bizim gördüklerimizi size göstermektir. Çerçöpün kumsalda son bulan seyahati YALOS ile devam ediyor. Filiz Ateş ve Christiane Alaettinoğlu
